Six brave Forest members ventured out to the Welsh mountains for the next WFRA Winter series Fell Race, some of whom were still recovering from the previous nights FODAC’s Christmas party.
This time the Skirrid was the mountain of choice. The weather was still mild, but very wet and windy – most choose to wear waterproof tops. The underfoot conditions were soft and muddy, leading to overall times being down on previous years. It is a relatively short course of about 3.5 Miles, with around 1,150 feet total ascent. The main ascent to the summit was up the very steep northern end of the Skirrid – more of an upwards crawl than a run..
Dan Sandford was the first Forest finisher 11th overall, in a time of 36.18. Full results:
