GREAT WELSH MARATHON
We are well and truly into the marathon season, this week a number of Forest athletes went to Llanelli to run the Great Welsh Marathon.
A beautiful, flat, super fast and traffic free course taking in some stunning areas of the south Llanelli coastline, unfortunately for the second half of the race a headwind got up making it harder for the runners. The first home for the club was Dan Sanford in 3.14.20 followed by Robert Freeman in 3.28.41 and Rob Lester 3.53.11. The only lady was Gemma Hewitt who finished in 4.02.25.Pictured L-R Rob Freeman, Gemma Hewitt, Rob Lester, Dan SanfordBRIGHTON MARATHON
Other Forest runners headed to the other end of the country to run the very popular Brighton Marathon. The course has the stunning backdrop of the sea and finishes on the seafront. The race attracts over 11,000 entrants and over 150,000 spectators. Julian Boon who is running two consecutive Marathons for his chosen charity MIND started with a brilliant time of 3.02.19 a personal best and 134th place. Jo Edwards for the ladies finished in a very creditable 4.10.47 followed by Glenn Harvey in 4.25.49, Suzanne Peters in 5:07:35 and Salli Anne Millward in 5.11.56Pictured Julian Boon
