This 10k trail/fell race was introduced into the Club Championship calendar at the last minute because of a clash of dates and proved popular with FODAC runners, with 25 taking part. There was a stiff climb, followed by running across moorland in very windy conditions and a rapid descent, made more difficult by slippery wooden steps.
The first to finish was James Dobbing 3rd in 46:11, after a sprint which saw him pass team-mate Marcus Bennetto (46:12) on the line. James was also first Senior Male runner. There were three other category prizes with Jackie Green (69:40) winning FV50; Jacqui Wynds (67:53) FV60 and Chris Moore (56:21) MV60.
Due to the cancellation of the Great Oaks Gallop because of building work at Yorkley Village Hall, this race was chosen for the presentation of the Yorkley Dash Trophy to the first FODAC male finisher, and the Carol Jones Trophy, given in remembrance of our former captain and chair-person, to the first female finisher. These went to James Dobbing and to Sue Shergold (60:36) respectively.
Overall, the club had 4 runners in the top 9, and 6 in the top 15. Other times: Mark Mathews 47:09; Michael Jenkins 48:03; Scott Berry 50:41; Julian Boon 50:58; Martin Drew 57:19; Alan Robertson 59:34; Peter Short 50:41; Brian Francis 59:57; Michael Marks 60:31; Neville Turner 61:48; Graham Bennetto 63:12; David Jenkins 63:49; Stef Francis 64:26; Roy King 68:57; Claire Morgan 71:56 & Roger Morgan 72:00. Chris Hawkins took part in the canicross event over the same course, finishing in 68:34.
