XC Saturday 1st November

Wow what a great w/e of racing from the Green & Whites.
After a warm-up volunteering or running at parkruns the Green Army were out in force on Malvern Common for the second race in the Gloucestershire XC league. After some spirited performances from our Juniors, including an impressive 1st place for John Hamilton in the U17M, it was the turn of the Senior Women to attack the hills: twice. Of 114 finishers there were Four FoDAC Female teams: more than any other club. Ann Nixon was an awesome 6th with Carmen Rodriguez 36th & Sue Shergold 46th to bring the A team home in  8th of 27 teams. Other teams were: Sherryl Hall 48th, Valerie Hamilton 55th  Liz Usedon 64th, Jacqui Wynds 73rd, Margaret Powles 80th, Lynne Park 82nd, Jane Creed 92nd, Jackie Green 93rd & Clare King in 114th on her first ever XC.
The Senior Men were up next with 3 laps of this tough course. First to finish was Chris Penny in 44th place followed by Marcus Bennetto 70th, Dan Sandford 77th, Daren Smith 86th, Hubert Ashley-Towell 88th & Michael Jenkins 93rd putting the A team into 8th of 23 teams. With 4 of this team being over 40 the Masters team made it to 2nd of 22 teams: only 4 points behind Cheltenham Harriers! Other finishers were Jules Boon 111th, Scott Berry 131st, Ian Morgan 133rd, Walter Leach 143rd, Rob Freeman 148th, Brian Francis 184th, Patrick Rennison 206th, Andy Jones 209th, Graham Bennetto 217th & Roy King 218th.
