The inaugural running of the Severn Bridge Half Marathon attracted a number of FODAC runners. It was an exciting start to see the bridge filled with the 2000 athletes: truly an historic moment as this was the first time the bridge had ever been closed for an event. Luckily there were no high winds and the weather was perfect for running, although the course was quite a tough one: undulating and having one long’ steep hill. The route took the runners through the villages towards Thornbury and then back over the footpath on the bridge to finish.
First male overall was Stephen Peterson of Les Croupiers in 1.14.26 and first female was local Chepstow Harrier Katherine matthews in 1.21.00. First Forest runner was Chris Penny [ pictured] – 1.33.32
