LANDS END TO JOHN O’GROATS WITH CLAIRE & KAREN

Forest Of Dean Athletic Club members Claire Morgan, Karen Barnett and their respective husbands Roger and Richard have taken on a slightly more challenging adventure with a charity cycle ride from Lands End to John O’Groats. This is a distance of 874 miles and the average time it takes to cover is 14 days, Claire and Karen have done it in thirteen.  Along the route they have encountered some wonderful scenery and extremes of weather from boiling hot to torrential rain, the ups and downs of terrain and keeping themselves and the bikes on the road.
The team have been supported on their journey by daughter Helena Morgan who has been on hand to provide tea and encouragement whilst keeping them all organised.
They have done their ride in aid of Winston’s Wish and anyone who would like to donate it’s www.justgiving.com / Claire Morgan

Below is an extract from Claire’s blog.

Last day today.  Already been awake for ages but got to keep quiet as we are in a hostel , Only 75 miles left to do. This has been an amazing journey , we have had some laughs, some near misses, some falls (Karen), some amazing views, and some fantastic hills to ride up and down.  Helena Morgan has been a fantastic support :getting dinner for everyone, making cups of tea and checking us all in to our rooms and then getting us organised the next day.  Richard Barnett has picked a great route with some amazing hills and views, and last but not least, my fantastic husband for putting up with my mad ideas and being just a awesome man xx — feeling excited.
