Dursley Dozen

DD 2014

Over 400 runners met in Dursley for the 25th running of the Dursley Dozen.  This included 25 from Forest of Dean AC; the largest representation from any club present.  The race covers 12 miles of trails and hills, with the odd bit of road thrown in, including 2000ft of climbing: one bit so steep a rope is provided to enable the runners to pull themselves up.  After the recent wet weather, there was plenty of mud and the strong winds made some of the course particularly hard going.  Forest of Dean AC had 8 runners finishing in the top 100.  Julian Boon was first of these: 37th in 1:39:16, followed by Peter Woodward 1:39:54; Daren Smith 1:40:48; Mark Mathews 1:41:35 and John Russell 1:42:36.  Julian, Daren, Mark and John won the veteran’s team prize.
First lady was Kim Chester 2:08:48, followed by Jacqui Wynds 2:19:02 and 2nd FV60, and Stef Francis 2:23:50. Other results were Leyton Fleet 1:43:28; Richard Powles 1:47:12; James Dobbing 1:47:27; Scott Berry 1:50:59; Simon Dimmer 1:53:26; Richard Pegler 1:54:15; Rob Freeman 1:57:59; Martin Drew 1:58:20; Jim Storrar 1:58:42; Chris Moore 1:58:45; Ian Morgan 1:59:27; Graham James 2:04:35; Alan Robertson 2:16:48; Jane Creed 2:30:27; Ian James 2:35:09 and Bev James 3:02:11.
