The last parkrun before Christmas always has a seasonal theme. Many runners come dressed as Santas, elves, angels, reindeer: the list is endless. There is a “secret santa” pile of presents; many cakes and the best fancy dress receives a bottle of bubbly. This year, there was even a brass band playing carols, and the music could be heard all round the course.
And there was also running. Peter Ward was first home, in 19.09, followed by Gavin Jones and Mark Mathews. First lady was first timer, at Forest of Dean parkrun, Nicola Sheehan. 125 runners completed the 5k course. These included the latest batch from Forest of Dean AC’s 0-5 programme. The aim of this is to enable people who are currently non-runners to be able to complete a 5k run after 9 weeks of training. The next course begins alongside Lydney Boating Lake on December 29th at 6:30. All welcome.
