Gloucester AAA Cross Country Championships
The annual Gloucester AAA (Amateur Athletics Association) Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday the 7th of January in Old Down Country Park near Thornbury.
115 runners took part in the adult races including 8 from the Forest of Dean AC.
The first 3 men to to finish from the Forest of Dean AC were Alexander Lindfield in 38:18, Ian Smith in 39:13 and Michael Strange in 43:28. Alexander took the bronze medal position in the under 20 men’s age group while Ian and Michael took the gold medal positions in the mens 55+ and 60+ age groups respectively.
The first three women to finish from the Forest of Dean AC were Catherine Roberts in 28:22, Sherryl Hall in 30:40 and Jacqui Wynds in 34:02. Catherine and Sherryl took the bronze medal positions in the women’s 45+ and 50+ age groups while Jacqui to the gold medal position in the 60+ age group.
Other FODAC times were: Jason Bishop in 48:46 and Alan Robertson in 51:47
