The first road race of the season in the FODAC championship calendar ensured there was a great turn out from the club with 20 runners competing. Despite the appalling conditions before the race, with most runners enclosed in bin bags to keep dry, as if by magic the rain cleared as the race started. As a totally flat run this is always provides some personal best times.
Kim Chester was first lady in 63:59. Jackie Green took 1st in the FV55 section, finishing second to Kim in 64:21 with Jacqui Wynds third in 64:54. The first man was John Russell, 53rd overall in 50:10, having taken 28s out of second-place Julian Boon (50:52) over the last two miles. Third man was Leyton Fleet 51:01. Other results were Richard Powles 53:04; Richard Peglar 53.19; Martin Drew 56:27; Alan Robertson 58:00; Jim Storrar 58:18; Chris Moore 59:34; Brian Francis 59:39; Peter Short 63:26; Stef Francis 68:04; Kate Frost 68:09; Lynne Park 70:35, Ian James 73:15; Jo Babij 75:32 and Bev James 82:06. There were pbs for Julian Leyton and a couple of club records were set.
