SWANSEA 10K & JUNIOR RACES
Swansea saw the biggest turnout ever of FODAC members, two coaches took both the Junior and Senior runners to Swansea there were nearly 80 who took part. The day was a little overcast but perfect running conditions.
The Junior races were first and saw some great performances by these young athletes, for many this was their first experience of a large event. In the 5K race Jack Fleet was 4th in 17.57 and Max King 12th in 22.59.
Other notable results were in the 1K 8-11yrs which saw Cameron Francis in 3rd, sister Maddie in 4th, Izzy Babij in 6th and Tillie Westwood 8th.
The seniors 10k race saw a huge turnout with approximately 4000 athletes. As usual the extremely fast Kenyans took first places in both the men’s and women’s. Moris Munene in 28.32 and Teresiah Omosa in 33.47.
There were notable successes for FODAC with a good number of PB’s but those who attained placings were Alan Robertson MV60 in 42.35 and Margaret Powles in LV55 in 48.44

RELISH RUNNING – TWO TUNNELS HALF MARATHON – SEPT 20TH
Five FODAC members – Eva Godhead, Kate Burke, Wendy Lawrence and Becky and Andy Breeze – ran the Two Tunnels half marathon in Bath. The Two Tunnels, one of which is over a mile long, come in the first 3 miles. A really welcome opportunity to cool down, especially for those who had late starts in bright sunshine. A couple of small hills were thrown in before they hit the canal at 5 miles, after which it was a lovely run along the canal bank, occasionally crossing the canal over pretty bridges. Runners finally arrived in Bath, ran alongside Poultney Weir and stayed by the water until 12 miles, then a very long last mile along roads to the finish. Eva was pleased to finish her first ever half, while 13.5 miles was not long enough for Kate Burke, who having got to the finish and collected her medal, ran back through the tunnels and did the 10k course as well!!
Kate Burke – 1.58.41, Becky Breeze – 2.18.07, Andy Breeze – 2.18.10, Eva Goodhead – 2.18.49, Wendy Lawrence – 2.40.57
