JUNIOR MIDDLE DISTANCE GROUP

The junior middle distance group is aimed at athletes in the 11 to 17 years age group (i.e. School years 7 to 13), male and female, who wish to specialise in track events from 800 metres upwards (indoor and outdoor) and/or cross country/road running events.

The group meets 4 times per week as follows:

  • Winter
    • Tuesday 6.15pm - Five Acres Track (Open Session)


    • Thursday 6.15pm - Five Acres Track (Open Session)


    • Saturday 9.00am - Five Acres Track (Closed Session)


    • Sunday 10.00am - Long Run. (Closed Session) Venues vary, please check beforehand.


  • Summer
    • Tuesday 6.15pm - Five Acres Track (Open Session)


    • Thursday 6.15pm - Five Acres Track (Open Session)


    • Saturday 9.00am - Five Acres Track (Closed Session)


    • Sunday 10.00am - Long Run (Closed Session)
    • We welcome athletes of all abilities and they may attend the Tuesday and/or Thursday sessions. Older, more experienced athletes will be advised by the coaches if they think it will be beneficial to attend the Saturday and/or Sunday sessions. The training is adapted to suit all abilities. Older athletes, if they desire, may be issued with individual programmes, which require some work on their own. These programmes will be tailored around the group programmes. Group training programmes will be issued on a monthly basis and details posted at the track.

      Some athletes may wish to undertake a middle distance event as part of a multi event programme. These athletes are welcome to join us but, in the first instance, should join a multi event group where the necessary arrangements will be made.

      We are a sturdy bunch and train outdoors all year around so please ensure you have the correct clothing at all times. Also please arrive promptly for training as it is unfair if your fellow athletes are stood in the cold waiting!
