The sun shone on Newent for the 2014 Forest of Dean District school cross country championship the going was good to soft & the children turned out in coach loads.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0The 2014 Championship was sponsored & supported by the Forest of Dean Athletics Club based at Lakers School. Vice Chair & Head Coach Pete Compton was on hand to present the prizes. Pete said “Its a real honour for the club to get involved with the Schools Championship & this years has be particularly exciting because of the new team prizes as well as the individuals awards. The first 6 from each school counts towards the team prize giving everyone a chance to contribute to their school’s success. This year the club has provided the 6 team shields & an overall prize shield as well as the medals for the gold silver & bronze for each age group. It was wonderful to hear the children cheer on their class mates through the finish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Athletics club has a long history of success in Cross Country competitions entering both the Gloucestershire & Gwent Cross country leagues in all age groups from U11 to over 60’s all supporting each other to success.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

We are blessed to have so many talented coaches in the Forest with Ann Nixon & Dave Lucas leading the way every Tuesday & Thursday at Lakers School 6.15-7.30 everyone welcome.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
