{"id":2979,"date":"2014-11-14T15:52:54","date_gmt":"2014-11-14T15:52:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fodac.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=2979"},"modified":"2014-11-14T15:52:54","modified_gmt":"2014-11-14T15:52:54","slug":"news-9th-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/fodac.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=2979","title":{"rendered":"News: 9th November"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Sodbury Slog<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Always a popular race and probably the initial \u201cmud run\u201d , this attracted a number of FODAC runners. \u00a0The route is varied. \u00a0 Starting from\u00a0Chipping Sodbury School, running along the wide High Street and onto Sodbury Common. \u00a0Here&#8217;s where the mud starts. \u00a0The common is very marshy even in summer, and becomes very wet and boggy in November making the going especially tough.<br \/>\nThrough the hamlet of Little Sodbury End into Tungrove Farm. A few watery excursions later and you are climbing towards the Cotswold Way, into the tree-lined drive of Little Sodbury Manor, running past the Manor House then up through the woods on the Cotswold Way, across the Roman encampment at Old Sodbury, following the Cotswold Way down to Hardwoodgate Farm.<br \/>\nStrategically placed bales of hay provide ideal obstacles where gates would normally grace the passage. First home was\u00a0Marcus Bennetto\u00a0in 129th place, in a shade under 40 minutes for the 9.7km course.
